Road trip from Hyderabad to Mahabaleshwar? Here are the best things to do in mahabaleshwarβMapro Garden, Venna Lake, Pratapgad Fort & more.
Why Mahabaleshwar Is Worth Visiting
So whenever you think about the things to do in mahabaleshwar, hereβs the thing about Mahabaleshwar itβs the kind of place that softens you.
I didnβt go expecting enlightenment or anything. Honestly, I just wanted to escape Hyderabad heat and see some hills. But Mahabaleshwar has this quiet way of sneaking under your skin.
Itβs the fog rolling over the roads like it owns the place.
The strawberries that actually taste like strawberries (not the βpink-flavoredβ ones we get in supermarkets).
Itβs that moment when you look at a valley and for once your brain shuts up.
If youβve been craving a break, the kind where you just breathe a little deeper, walk a little slower, and eat like calories canβt find you in the hillsβ¦ then a Mahabaleshwar trip is absolutely worth it.
Things to Do in Mahabaleshwar (+ Panchgani)
Hereβs the list. Not the boring list. The βbeen there, laughed there, ate too much thereβ list.
1. Mapro Garden β Strawberry Heaven
Your first stop when approaching Mahabaleshwar from Panchgani.
Itβs part cafΓ©, part garden, part βplease take my moneyβ jam store.

Order Strawberries with Cream.
Yeah, yeah, itβs touristy. But listen one spoon and boom, youβll forgive every clichΓ© in life.
Also, their syrups? You will buy at least three bottles and then pretend they are βgiftsβ for people.
2. Arthur Seat Point β Views That Make You Dramatic
This place made me feel like I should be in a Bollywood sad song, staring dramatically into the valley.
Itβs windy, itβs breathtaking, and the valley looks like it goes on forever.
Perfect for:
- Overthinking
- Taking βlost in thoughtβ pictures
- Whispering βmain kaun hoonβ to nature
3. Elphinstone Point β Slightly Less Famous, Slightly Extra Gorgeous
Elphinstone is like Arthur Seatβs quieter sibling.
Fewer people = better selfies.

The view is insane. The mist here behaves like itβs in a perfume commercial.
At one point we couldnβt see each other even though we were basically two feet apart.
Highly recommend.
4. Mahabaleshwar Temple β Calm in a Stone Shell
16th-century Shiva temple. Simple. Peaceful. It was raining when we went. Parking line was too long.
Walk in. Stand quietly.
It gives that βheart just settled down a bitβ kind of feeling.
5. Lodwick Point β The βI Need to Just Sitβ Spot
I loved this one.
No rush, no noise. Just valleys and wind and you trying to process life.
Thereβs a huge memorial pillar there β feels like history just casually hanging around.
Take Maggi and just say pahado val maggie is always good.
6. Kates Point β Sunrise That Will Slap You Awake
You have to do one sunrise here.
I know waking up is painful.
But the minute we reached the point its incredible.

Also yes, monkeys will judge you.
Just accept it.
7. Sydney Point (Panchgani)
Stopped here with chai and some leftover chips.
Wind was cold enough to make us forget Hyderabad exists.
Perfect start to the day before entering Mahabaleshwar proper.
8. Venna Lake Boating β Cute, Touristy, Do It Anyway
Buy corn. Get into a boat.
Row like your life is sorted.
If you’re not rowing, just sit back like royalty.
Boat person will row while you contemplate the meaning of happiness.
9. Pratapgad Fort β For the History
About 20 km away. The views from the top is amazing.
Also, you get to say:
βYes, I hiked. Yes, I am better than who I was yesterday.β

Bring water. And maybe 2 chocolates.
Trust me.

Food: What to Eat (And Where)
First thingβMahabaleshwar is the type of place where dieting automatically gets cancelled. Like, it doesnβt exist here.
Start with Bagicha Corner. Just order the strawberry with cream. Don’t think, don’t compare, don’t ask if it’s βfreshββyouβre in strawberry land. The answer is always yes.
Then of course, Mapro CafΓ©. Their pizzas are surprisingly good and the mulberry shake hits differently in that cool hill air. Sit outdoors. The sunlight and leaves and chatter around you somehow make everything taste 20% better.
Weather & Packing
Mahabaleshwar weather mood-swings harder than Hyderabad in April.
Pack:
- Light jacket (even in summer)
- Moisturizer (the cold air WILL dry you)
- Comfy shoes
- Something to tie your hair unless you want βmountain lionβ hairstyle in photos
- Snacks. Always snacks.

Closing Thoughts
Mahabaleshwar isnβt loud or showy.
It doesnβt try to impress you.
It just quietly sits there β green, misty, sweet β waiting for you to slow down enough to notice it.
And honestly?
Thatβs what makes it special.
If Hyderabad has you running nonstop, Mahabaleshwar will look you in the face and go:
