Everything You Need to Know About Suryalanka Beach

Some weekends you crave mountains, some weekends you end up at Ikea, and then there are days when you just want sand between your toes. That’s where Suryalanka Beach comes in.

How far along are we now? It is roughly 330–340 km to suryalanka beach from hyderabad distance. That equates to roughly 6.5 to 7 hours of driving in real life.

If you hit the road around 6 AM, you’ll roll into Bapatla just in time for lunch. By evening, you’re watching the sun sink into the Bay of Bengal. Not a bad deal for one day’s drive.

Roads: Smooth until Guntur. After that, they get a little narrower but nothing your car can’t handle. You’ll drive past endless fields — green in monsoon, golden in winter. Honestly, it’s like flipping through nature’s filter options.

Fun fact: Bapatla was earlier called Bhavapuri. And nearby Guntur? Known for chillies so fiery that just driving past the market might make your nose twitch.

Winter (November–February): The best. No sweat through your T-shirt, cool mornings, and picture-perfect sunsets.

Summer (March–June): brutal Your feet may get hurt by the sand. Like you’re in a hot coal challenge, you’ll be running back to your slippers.

Monsoon (July to October):Yes, this seacson is moody and romantic. However, roads can get untidy and waves can occasionally become harsh.

The drive itself is pure entertainment. Trust me.

You’ll pass trucks painted in colors brighter than Holi powder, all proudly flashing “Horn OK Please.” And then there are the tapris— dishing out chai so strong it could fix even your Monday mood.

When we finally reached Chirala, honestly, the only thing on our minds was to calm the baby. He was crying nonstop, so we just sat for a while, tried to relax, and let him settle down. After that, we had a quick dinner and thought, okay, let’s see if people are hanging out at the beach at night. But nope — the place was pitch dark, not a single soul around. It felt a bit scary, so we just turned back and went straight to the hotel.

Next day was much better. We woke up early, reached the beach by afternoon, and the vibe was completely different. Waves rolling in, sun shining, and suddenly we felt like, okay, now the trip has begun. We ate, stretched out on the sand, and then tried all the rides we could — ATV, camel, even a horse ride. It was hilarious and fun at the same time.

Of course, no beach is complete without food. To begin with, the stalls were selling hot boiled corn, and we grabbed a couple right away. Nothing beats that smoky taste with the salty sea breeze around you. A little later, as we walked further, people were selling piles of dried fish. In Bengali, we call it shutki maach. The smell hit us instantly — strong enough to make us laugh and cover our noses. Nevertheless, locals kept saying it tastes amazing once cooked, but honestly, we weren’t brave enough to try!

By Bus

And then there’s the good old bus. A number of buses run daily between Hyderabad and Bapatla. You just need to pick the timing that suits you best, settle into your seat, and enjoy the ride. Perfect if you’re traveling light and want a simple, budget-friendly option.

By Train

You can easily book a train from Hyderabad — either Secunderabad (SC) or Hyderabad Deccan (HYB) — straight to Bapatla (BPP).Popular options include the Narayanadri SF Express, Sabari Express, or Simhapuri SF Express. So, hop on, grab a window seat, and let the tracks do the work.

By Flight

Another way is to fly. Just board a flight from Hyderabad (HYD) to Vijayawada Airport (VGA). Once you land, you can continue the journey by cab, bus, or even a short train ride to reach Bapatla. It’s quick, and honestly, if you hate long drives, this is the stress-free option.

Suryalanka Beach isn’t just a patch of sand; rather, it’s the whole vibe of leaving the city behind, laughing at silly signboards, snacking on roadside corn, and most importantly, watching your baby’s eyes go wide at the sight of waves for the very first time.
